How do I clean the bottle components? Can I use a dishwasher?
- Holder, Ring and Cap: Wash in hot soapy water or in the top rack of the dishwasher away from the heat source.
- All Nipples (before first use): Should be boiled for five minutes. After each use, wash in hot, soapy water for about one minute and rinse thoroughly.
- Silicone Nipples: May be boiled for five minutes weekly to maintain cleanliness and are dishwasher safe (top of rack only). Do not attempt to enlarge hole of silicone nipple, as this will cause tearing.
- Latex Nipples: Latex Nipples should not be boiled after first time and should not be placed in steam sterilizers or dishwashers
How do I clean Ventaire® bottles?
As with all infant feeding products, clean as soon as possible after each use.
- Wash in the top rack of dishwasher on dry cycle or hand wash with hot, soapy water for about one minute.
- Be sure to disassemble all parts of your VentAire® bottle prior to washing.
- Remove all parts by removing the vent from the vent ring and the nipple from the nipple ring.
- Dry thoroughly.
What are VentAire® bottles made of?
- VentAire® bottles and hoods are made of clarified polypropylene.
- VentAire Crystal Clear™ bottles are made of co-polyester, clear plastic material.
- Nipples and vent disks are made of silicone, and the rings and bottom vent are made of polypropylene.
When using Ventaire® bottles, does the vent need to be removed while feeding?
No, the vent should always remain in the bottle while feeding. The uniquely designed vent is an integral part of the VentAire® bottle system. It is the mechanism that allows the bottle to vent air and eliminate pressure that makes feeding difficult. Without properly installing the vent, milk will drain from the bottom of the bottle.
Can I use a bottle warmer?
Using a bottle warmer for VentAire® and Kinder-Grip® bottles should be ok as long as you follow the manufacturer's instructions. However, since our VentAire® bottles have not been tested with all bottle warmers, we cannot guarantee the integrity using this method of warming. For best results, we recommend following the instructions on our product insert. For warming Playtex® Nurser Drop-Ins® Liners bottles, please see next question "How do I heat breast milk or formula?"
How do I heat the breast milk or formula?
You can heat formula by placing bottle in a container of warm water for several minutes with the cap off the bottle. Do not heat in boiling water. Always remove cap before warming in container. Or, warm liquid in a separate container and cool lukewarm (at least 15 minutes if boiled) before pouring into bottle.
Can I use another brand’s nipples with these bottles?
We don’t recommend using a competitor’s nipples, since we cannot guarantee that they will work effectively due to the unique venting system of our bottles.
When is it time to replace the nipple?
When baby is putting too much effort into feeding, it may be time to try the next flow rate.
Can the Playtex® Nurser NaturaLatch® nipples be used with these bottles?
Yes, Playtex® Nurser NaturaLatch® latex and silicone nipples can be used with the VentAire® wide bottles. For standard VentAire® bottles, you must use the VentAire® Standard nipples.
What are Kinder-Grip® bottles made of?
Kinder-Grip® Bottles and hoods are made of clarified polypropylene, the nipples are made of silicone.
How do I use the Playtex® Fridge to Go® Tote
No messy ice, no bulky ice packs — just place the tote in the freezer overnight, remove and use!
How do I use the Playtex® Nurser Drop-Ins® Liners?
To use Playtex® Nurser Drop-Ins® Liners:
- Open package at perforated circles at the bottom, remove liner.
- Place liner into Nurser and fill.
- Pull nipple through retainer ring and screw onto Playtex® Nurser with Drop-Ins® Liners.

How do I freeze and store breast milk?
Playtex offers the Playtex® Nurser Breast Milk Storage Kit, which is freezer safe. This will allow you to pump, store and feed using a Playtex® Nurser Drop-Ins® Liners.
- When pumping is completed, remove the breast cup and pump adapter from the liner ring.
- Screw the sealing cap onto the liner ring to seal the breast milk inside the Playtex® Nurser Drop-Ins® Liners.
- Set the sealed breast milk upside down inside the freezer or refrigerator for storage. This keeps the filled liner stable on your shelf.
- When you are ready to feed, remove the breast milk from the freezer or refrigerator. Screw the sealed liner onto a Playtex® Nurser with Drop-Ins® Liners bottle. The liner ring will screw onto the holder for your convenience.
- Thaw in refrigerator or by running under warm water.
- Remove the sealing cap and replace with a nipple and nipple ring. Now you are ready to feed your baby
Without the Playtex® Nurser Breast Milk Storage Kit:
- For Playtex® Nurser Drop-Ins® Liners, we recommend securing the top with a rubber band or twist tie.
- For standard liners, we recommend double-bagging and securing the top with a rubber band or a twist tie.
- Set upright in the freezer.
- Thaw in refrigerator or by running under warm water.
Do I need to expel air from the liners?
No, it is not necessary since the Playtex® Nurser Drop-Ins® Liners and standard liners collapse and contract just like the breast to deliver nourishment, not air. Playtex® Nurser Drop-Ins® Liners are made of a flexible plastic that will mold to the liquid as the baby feeds. Because of this, air will not get through to the baby’s mouth, nor will a vacuum form, which can cause baby to suck in the air around the nipple. However, we are aware that many consumers want to expel air. There is no problem with doing this; but, we advise that you do this carefully, without the use of sharp objects, so you don’t cut the liner.
How do I read the Playtex® Nurser with Drop-Ins® Liners measurements?
If you are using the new expandable Playtex® Nurser with Drop-Ins® Liners in your current Playtex® Nurser with Drop-Ins® Liners bottle, use the liner for ounce/mL measurements, not the holder. Our new holders have updated ounce/mL markings to match the expandable 10oz liners.
How do I sterilize components of the Playtex® Nurser with Drop-Ins® Liners?
Sterilization is not necessary for holders since there is no direct contact with liquids.
- We don’t recommend using steam sterilizers or boiling these since this material cannot handle the temperatures required and the bottles can be damaged during the sterilizing process.
What are the materials used in the Playtex® Nurser Drop-Ins® Liners?
Materials include:
- The Original holder is made of polypropylene
- The Premium and Premium Decorated holders are made of Kostrate, a clear plastic material.
- The nipple ring and cap are made of polypropylene.
- The liners are made of linear low-density polyethylene.
- The amber color nipples are made of natural latex and our clear nipples are made of silicone.
Why do you offer different nipple styles? What is the difference?
We offer different nipple styles to give mom and baby choices. We offer latex and silicone nipples in different flow rates to meet our consumers’ needs.
How do I clean the nipple components? Can I use a dishwasher?
Before first use, boil for five minutes. After each use, wash in hot, soapy water for about one minute and rinse thoroughly. Latex Nipples should not be boiled after first time and should not be placed in steam sterilizers or dishwashers.
What age range of nipples do you suggest for my baby?
We suggest the slow flow nipple for babies 0-3 months, medium flow for babies 3+ months, and fast flow for babies 3-6+ months. Please note: this information is provided for guideline purposes only, and you should use whatever nipple is comfortable for you and your baby.
Do you make a medium flow nipple?
Yes, in silicone only.
How do I know when to change the nipple?
Inspect nipples regularly especially when baby is teething. If nipple becomes sticky, swollen, cracked, torn or shows other signs of excess wear, discontinue immediately.
Latex nipples should be changed every 2 to 3 months. Use nipple diameter test on back of packaging to help determine if nipple needs to be replaced.
